| Bio: | Appearance: Race: Anglo-Saxon Height: 5’5” Weight: 137 lbs Hair: Brown Eyes: Hazel Age: 22 Description: Lukas is a mousy looking fellow who wears spectacles and a lab coat for the most part, though he will usually remember to take off the lab coat at social events. Under the lab coat he wears a brown tweed jacket and a bow tie. Character History: • Lukas was originally born and brought up in Germany. However, at the age of 15 his parents immigrated to America to escape the anti-semantic movement in their home country. • Possessing Doctorates in Chemistry, Engineering and Medicine; Lukas was a scientific genius even prior to his inspiration. However this focus in academia has left him lacking in both social and real world skills. Expanded History Lukas comes from a fairly normal background. His parents were jewelers Frankfurt, Germany for all of their lives. They lived in a 2 story townhouse on the west bank of the Main River. However, when Lukas was a teenager, he began to notice that the happiness that his parents openly displayed was only a façade. Beneath their gay exterior, they lived in persecution and fear. Though not as overt as it would become in the years ahead, anti-Semitism in Germany was rising. After he went to bed, Lukas could hear his parents hushed whispers from the den below him. They spoke of whispers behind their backs, and long glares on the streets. Finally, one day his parents informed him that they would be moving. Though they did not state their reasons directly, Lukas knew that Germany was no longer a safe place for his people. Though the reasons for it were negative, Lukas found the journey to America to be one of the most exciting things he had experienced to this point. The first leg of their trip took them to London. He had never seen a city of this size before and its character and energy was new to him. However, his (at this point) small knowledge of English made it difficult for him to explore, and the cockney being spoken on the docks was like no English out of a book. After several days of waiting in a small hotel in London, their voyage to America began its second leg. Their ship, the RMS Olympic, was pressed into service as a troop transport, but due to his father’s connections (and no little amount of bribery) they were able to book passage to America. During the trip, Lukas explored this ship, using his burgeoning English vocabulary to talk the sailors into showing him their beloved craft. Of special interest to Lukas was the ship’s engineering plants. He would spend hours in the bowels of the ship learning it’s systems from its grime coated caretakers. Lukas’ arrival in New York City was nothing but a blur to him. Hours of standing and sleeping in innumerable lines stretched away in his memory. One thing he did remember though was the kind and compassionate faces of the ladies of the Isle. These Ellis Island volunteers would spend hours walking amongst the immigrants offering coffee, cookies and kind words to those hopeful souls. Lukas’ father’s unmatched jeweler’s skills enabled him to secure employment very quickly in New York City’s Design district. And they were able to secure a low rent flat in a Jewish enclave in Queens. Lukas initially enrolled in public school; however his intelligence allowed him to quickly surpass the lessons that his teachers were trying to impart. Because of this, it was recommended to his parents that he bypass public school and move on to college. After much deliberation, they decided to comply and Lukas was enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University at 16 years old. The next 8 years were spent in nearly constant study. Lukas took to university like an unattached electron to a stray proton. His two most common haunts were the library (of course) and the “Cut”, a long grass covered valley that stretches between most of the school’s buildings. Not satisfied with one area of study, Lukas dove into all the sciences, but especially into Medicine, Engineering and (his true love) Chemistry. | |||||||
